5 yrs imprisonment to Govt official for producing fake document

JAMMU, July 7: 2nd Additional Sessions Judge Srinagar Vijay Singh Manhas has awarded five years imprisonment to Abdul Rashid Bhat, Mulberry Guard in Sericulture Department, who has produced a fake matriculation certificate for promotion to the post of Bush Technician.
After hearing both the sides, the court observed that prosecution has proved its case beyond all reasonable doubts that the accused person has used fake and fabricated matriculation certificate/diploma, while also facilitating the fake and fabricated verification report in the office of his employer Sericulture Department for seeking his promotion as Bush Technician.
Accordingly, the accused was held guilty and convicted under Sections 468, 471 and 201 RPC. He was awarded imprisonment for a period of two years along with a fine of Rs 2000 for offence under Section 468 RPC, imprisonment for a period of 2 years and a fine of Rs 2000 for offence under Section 471 and one year and a fine of Rs 1000 for commission of offence under Section 201 RPC.
“In default in payment of fine the convict shall undergo imprisonment for a further period of six months. All the sentences shall run concurrently”, the court said.
