POONCH, Feb 16: Continuing its drive against illegal mining, the police today seized five vehicles involved in mining activity in Mendhar tehsil of Poonch district.
Official sources said that action has been taken by police teams of Police Station Mendhar which were constituted under the supervision of SDPO Mendhar Sheezan Bhat. The team led by SHO Mendhar Inspr Manzoor Kohli along with PSI Prince Jasrotia special nakas in Sakhi Maidan area. During checking three Tippers and two Tractor trolleys were seized which were involved in illegal mining.
The police has initiated strict action. Seized vehicles were later handed over to G&M Deptt for further action. The department imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on the drivers of these vehicles.
