5 rescued from flash flood in river Tawi

JAMMU, Sept 8: Five persons trapped in flash flood in river Tawi were rescued by police and locals from Fallain Mandal area of Satwari police jurisdiction today.
Reports said four labourers and a driver of tractor trolley, got trapped in the flood when they had gone to fetch sand in Fallain Mandal area this morning. Seeing increasing water level in Tawi they moved to the safer area (dry island) along with trolley.
In view of the increasing water level and increasing danger, they were later rescued by police, civil defence members and the local villagers by using ropes. The trolley, however, remained struck there in the river and could be removed in the afternoon. The water level had suddenly increased in Tawi due to heavy rain in the upper reaches of Jammu and Udhampur areas in the morning.
