5 mutton, 8 chicken shops sealed for violation

Srinagar, Apr 17: Department of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Baramulla under the supervision of the Assistant Director sealed 05 mutton shops and 08 chicken shops for violating norms.
As per officials, during the drive, an amount of Rs 3300 was imposed as a fine on several shopkeepers who were involved in the violation of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955.
They said that a checking squad was constituted as per the directions of Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Bhupinder Kumar who inspected shopkeepers and other traders at several locations of the district.
“The checking squad had yesterday sealed 15 chicken shops for violation of norms thereby sealing 28 mutton/chicken shops in two days,” officials said.
The Assistant Director Food Department has warned all the traders and other shopkeepers to abide by the rules and regulations and that any kind of laxity is not going to be tolerated
Notably, the Govt has fixed the rates of mutton at Rs 535/kg without offal and Rs 490/kg with 100 grams of offal. Similarly, Rs 125 was fixed for 1 kg of boiler chicken, Rs 79/kg for layer chicken and Rs 110/kg for parent chicken.
