RAMBAN, July 24: In a terrible accident, five persons were killed and three others received grievous injuries after a Scorpio car skidded off the road and plunged into deep gorge at Hingni area of Ramsoo here today.

The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number CH01AQ-8402 carrying marriage party was on its way to Shagan from Ramsoo, when the driver lost control over the wheels and it plunged into deep gorge at Hingni area of Ramsoo.
In the accident, two persons died on the spot, while six others were injured, who were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Among the six injured, two more succumbed to their injuries at the hospital, taking the toll to four.
Later, the four injured persons were referred to a hospital in Anantnag, from where two others were referred to a hospital in SMHS Srinagar, where one lady succumbed to her injuries thereby raising the death toll to five.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Rashid, son of Ghulam Naik of Hingni, Hajja Begum, wife of Abdul Rashid of Nachlana, Zahida Begum, wife of Jalal of Nachlana, Mushtaq Ahmed (driver), son of Abdullah Malik of Battibass Shagan and Naseema Begum, wife of Muzaffar Sohil of Wagan Chamalwas, while the injured were identified as, Suhana Begum, daughter of Bashir Ahmad Sohil of Bohardhar Neel, Afreena Banoo, daughter of Mohd Ramzan Naik of Zanjoos Khari and Naza Begum, wife of Mohd Iqbal Sohil of Bohardhar Neel.
A case FIR Number 80/2022 under sections 279, 337 and 304-A IPC has been registered at Police Station Ramsoo and investigation started.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has expressed grief over the loss of lives in this tragic accident.
“Deeply anguished by the unfortunate road accident in Ramban. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, prayers for speedy recovery of the injured. Directed district administration to provide immediate assistance to the affected families”, the Lieutenant Governor tweeted.
