5 houses attached for harbouring militants

SRINAGAR, July 28: Police today attached five houses in Srinagar that were used for willful harbouring of militants.
A police spokesman said that residential houses of Baber Suhail Sofi son of Mohammad Yousuf Sofi of Usmanabad, Lawaypora, Adil Mohammad Lone son of Ghulam Mohammad Lone resident of Bazar Mohalla Lawaypora, Muzaffar Ahmad Mir and Rameez Ahmad Mir, both sons of Khursheed Ahmad Mir residents of Maloora, have been attached.
These houses were used by militants who were involved in case FIR Mo.48/2021 U/S 307,302,392,120/B IPC, 7/25,7/ 27 A-Act 16,18,20, UA(P) Act registered in Police Station Parimpora, he said.
Besides this, residential house at Firdous abad Batamaloo belonging to Abdul Majeed Ganie son of Ghulam Mohammad Ganie was also attached. The house was attached in a case (FIR No 128/2020 U/S 7/27 A Act,16,19, 20 UAPA, 302 ,307 IPC )registered in Batamaloo Police Station.
A double storeyed house of Abdul Rehman Bhat son of Abdul Razaq Bhat of Darbagh Harwan (father of accused Ashiq Hussain Bhat) involved in case (FIR No 95/2021 U/S under Section 307 IPC 7/27 A Act, 13,16,18,19,20 UAP Act dated 19-12-2021) registered at PS Harwan was also attached.
Police said that during the course of investigation, it was proved beyond doubt that these houses were used by active militants in conspiring, planning and executing militant acts in Srinagar district.
“The house owners willfully provided shelter and harboured the militants in these houses. They also provided logistics needed for such stay,” the spokesman added.
He said that these houses were attached under provisions of Sec 2(G) and 25 Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) after taking prior approval of Police Headquarters.
