SRINAGAR, Dec 3: A 5-day seminar on organic farming for apple farmers began here today for apple farmers.
The seminar is being organized by 52 RR of 10 Sector RR, under aegis of CIF(K), and in collaboration with Dr Imtiaz Lone, a leading expert in the field from Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K).
The objective behind organizing the seminar is to provide an opportunity to the local farmers, especially the marginal ones, to learn about the breakthroughs in apple farming, enhance production and reap rich dividends by application of the state-of-the-art methods in organic apple farming.
The seminar will cover various aspects of apple farming to include all stages from seeding till harvest. Though these farmers have been cultivating and harvesting apples since generations, they are still unaware of the modern techniques and methodology of increasing their agricultural produce.
The 5-day seminar will give an in-depth exposure to the farmers to the nuances of organic farming which will not only increase their produce manifold but also have enhanced market value, both in domestic as well as international markets.
