JAMMU, June 12: The five-day long “Shri Gou Gopal Paryavaran Sammelan and Yagya” at Seri Panditan (Chhanni), near Amb Garhota in Bhalwal, Jammu, which started on June 7, concluded with “Puranahuti” and final discourses by noted saints and religious scholars.
Member Parliament, Lok Sabha, Jugal Kishore Sharma and MLA, Jammu West Constituency, Sat Sharma graced the occasion and took part in “Purnahuti” and other rituals. They were also honoured by the organizers on this occasion and were presented shawls as a mark of respect.
Speaking on the occasion, MP Jugal Kishore Sharma said that such programmes are need of the hour to acquaint the people about our responsibility towards protection and preservation of the environment. He also stressed upon the people to contribute in this cause and plant trees wherever is possible.
In his address, MLA Sat Sharma extended his full support in organizing similar functions in the future. Expressing his concern over depletion of forests and conversion of agricultural land into commercial areas, he said, “We should stop doing so in the interest of Mother Nature and betterment of future generations.”
Gangadhar Ji Maharaj, under whose supervision and direction the “Sammelan and Yagya” was organized, said, “there shouldn’t be politics in the religion but religion should always be in the forefront in politics, which will keep our direction straight and clear towards, well being of one and all.”
“We have to plant more and more trees and also motivate others to take part in this campaign, so as to address the burning issue of pollution and loss of forests to some extent,” he said referring to the motive of the Sammelan.
The prominent saints, who enchanted the devotees during the programme included Swami Bua Ditta Ji from Pathankot, Atul Ji from Punjab, Pardeep Shastri Ji, Vijay Shastri Ji, Yash Sharma Ji (Baba Ji) from Mathwar, Atul Krishan Ji and others. The famous Sufi singers, who performed, were Vikram Ji and Narottam Ji from Punjab. Ved Parkash Sharma, President, Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha Parade Jammu also graced the occasion with his presence.
The venue, where this programme was solmenzied, happens to be the place of worship of His Holiness, Dewarika Nath Shastri Ji Maharaj, a renowned spiritual personality of the State.
