5-day INSPIRE Camp at JU concludes

JAMMU, Jan 20 : The five-day Science Camp under Innovation in Science Pursuits for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) concluded at Jammu University, here today.
The camp was organized by Department of Science and Technology, Govt of India in collaboration with PG Department of Geology, JU, for the school children of 11th class with Science stream who secured more then 80 percent marks in their Board examination.
More than 265 students from 24 schools of Jammu province participated in this camp. Experts from all over the country shared their knowledge with the students participating in the camp. They included Prof A S Brar, Vice Chancellor Guru Nanak Dev University, Prof Shalabh, IIT, Kanpur, Prof Avinash Khare, DU, Prof V Sri Nivas, TIFR, Mumbai and many others.
In the valedictory function today, Prof N Satyamurthy, Director, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Mohali, who was chief guest on the occasion, underlined the need for producing Noble Prize Winners under Indian Nationality.
Vice-Chancellor, JU, Prof Mohan Paul Singh Ishar, in his presidential address, said that it was a great opportunity for the students participating in these camps to explore their self so that they can lead the nation in different capacities in times to come.
Earlier Prof S K Khosa, Dean, Sciences, acknowledged the sincere efforts made by the core team of INSPIRE in organising programme of this level.
Prof G M Bhat delivered formal vote of thanks while Prof P K Srivastava, Coordinator of INSPIRE Programme presented the report of activities, which include an Inter-School Quiz Competition in which KC Public School bagged the Winner Up Trophy while Presentation Convent won the Runner up Trophy.
