5-day FDP on Internet of Things concludes at JU

JAMMU, June 5: A five day online Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Internet of Things (IoT) concluded today at the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology (DCSIT), University of Jammu.
Prof Naresh Padha, Dean Academic Affairs JU, who was the chief guest at the valedictory function, said that IoT has the ability to connect different objects through various sensors communication and respond in real time without the involvement of human being.
He emphasized that there is a lot of potential in research in the field of IoT. He further stated that the grant received by JU under RUSA scheme can be utilized for some good projects in the field of IOT.
Prof S P Maity, Department of Information Technology, School of Technology, Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur, West Bengal and an eminent academician and researcher was the guest of honor. He emphasized that IOT is an interdisciplinary field which encompasses many domains like bio informatics, robotics, mathematics, real-time analytics, machine learning, ubiquitous computing, embedded systems, wireless sensor networks, etc. IoT has been increasingly playing leading role in health, business, agriculture, governance, smart grids, and banking, he added.
Prof Pawanesh Abrol, Head, Department of Computer Science and IT, said that the market of IoT has grown many folds recently with research potential in the areas like smart cities, data driven health care, edge computing, artificial intelligence, smart factories, block chain technology, and crypto-currency.
Dr Lalit Sen Sharma, Professor, DCSIT and Coordinater FDP, informed about the objectives and programmes of AICTE ATAL Academy. He informed that 130 teachers and researchers from 21 states from the AICTE approved institutions attended this FDP. Fourteen sessions, including compulsory one on stress management were held and eminent experts and academicians from various leading institutes across the country delivered lectures, Prof Lalit informed.
Prof Lekh Ram Sharma, Professor Emeritus, Department of Sanskrit, GNDU, Amritsar; Prof Vinod Sharma, Dr Shubhnandan Singh Jamwal, Jasbir Singh, Dr Suresh Rao, Dr Abid Sarwar, Dr Ashok Sharma, Amit Sharma, the faculty members from main and offsite campuses, research scholars along with the participants attended the valedictory session. Rhea, research scholar conducted the proceedings while Dr Ashok Sharma, Assistant Professor delivered the vote of thanks.
