5 accused remanded to NIA custody

JAMMU, Feb 16: Court of Special Judge NIA has granted seven days police remand of five persons, who were arrested for their alleged involvement in the escape of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant Naveed from the police custody.
Special Judge NIA Haq Nawaz Zargar, after considering the remand application of National Investigation Agency, granted seven days police remand of accused namely Mohd Tika Khan, son of Abdul Khan, Shakeel Ahmed Bhat, son of Mohd Ramzan Bhat, Syed Tajamul, son of Syed Mohd Syed, Mohd Shafi Wani, son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Wani and Jan Mohd Ganie, son of Ghulam Hassan Ganie, all the residents of Pulwama.
They were produced before the court by Rakesh Sharma, SP CIO NIA with the prayer that accused were required to be interrogated thoroughly to unravel the criminal conspiracy whereby accused persons have killed two police men and facilitated the escape of Naveed in the shootout in SMHS Hospital Srinagar.
