JAMMU, May 15: The Postgraduate Department of Physiology, Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu, in association with the Dr Ritu Gupta Foundation, organized the 4th Dr Ritu Gupta lecture series at the Dr Ritu Gupta Memorial Hall.
The commemorative event drew a large gathering, including medical undergraduate and postgraduate students, faculty members, institutional staff, and distinguished guests from across the region.
The function was formally inaugurated by Dr Ashutosh Gupta, Principal and Dean of GMC Jammu, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Renowned neurologists Dr Sushil Razdan and Dr S K Gupta attended as special guests, while Dr Poonam Sethi, Director of Health Services Jammu, was the guest of honour.
Dr Vanita Sharma, Professor & Head of the Department of Physiology and the organizing secretary apprised the audience of the scientific significance of the event. A deeply moving documentary highlighting the inspiring life, courage, and lasting contributions of late Dr Ritu Gupta was presented by Dr Ranjana Duggal, leaving the audience emotional.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ravinder K Gupta, chairman of Dr Ritu Gupta Foundation, shared the vision behind establishing the foundation and outlined its ongoing humanitarian and academic initiatives. He strongly emphasized the vital importance of organ donation, sharing that his family had already donated corneas to restore sight to those in need.
Dr Ravinder requested Dr Ashutosh Gupta and other dignitaries to collaborate with the foundation for future orations and scientific activities. The lecture series featured two highly impactful motivational sessions.
Dr Manmeet Sodhi (Professor & Head, Pediatrics, GMC Amritsar) delivered an inspiring talk titled “From Marksheets to Real Lives” while Dr Bela Mahajan (Professor & Head, Microbiology, ASCOMS) spoke on “Resilience – The Bounce Back Factor: The Art of Bending Without Breaking.”
The proceedings of the event were conducted by Dr Sadaf and Dr Priyanka, and the event concluded with a formal vote of thanks presented by Dr Shivwani Kotwal.
