JAMMU, Nov 26: In view of the upcoming Panchayats/ Local Bodies elections and threat perception from across the border to vitiate the security environment in J&K, the Government has ordered to continue suspension of 4G Telecomunication services in all the districts, except Udhampur and Ganderbal.
In district Udhampur and Ganderbal, the Government had restored 4G services few months ago. This facility will, however, continue in these two J&K districts.
An official spokesman said that with the announcement of elections to the District Development Councils (DDCs) and by-elections to fill the vacancies to Panchayati Raj Institutions/ Urban Local Bodies, intense political activity is being witnessed across the Union Territory of J&K. There have been continued attempts from across the border to disrupt the elections by vitiating the security environment.
In view of the available inputs and taking note of the misuse of social media applications in carrying out terror activisties, the Government has decided to continue restrictions on high- speed telecommunication services in 18 districts of J&K till December 11, 2020, unless modified earlier.
