Priya Sethi pays tributes to Dr Ambedkar

JAMMU: Minister of State for Education and Tourism Priya Sethi today paid her tributes to Babasaheb Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, principal architect of Indian Constitution, saying that Dr Ambedkar used his education to spearhead the cause of equality, fraternity and liberty and we should follow his example

            The Minister said this during a function organized to observe 126th birth anniversary at Shaheed Amar Nath Bhagat, at Shalamar, Jammu.

            The Minister said that Dr Ambedkar’s contribution for women empowerment was exemplary and his pioneering thoughts still hold true today.

            ”He believed that society will progress only when women are empowered and thus upheld women’s right to higher education and employment and the present dispensation under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is striving to achieve that to ensure women get their rightful place in society”, the Minister added.

            She urged the students to focus on education and said that as Dr Ambedkar used education as a tool to rise above the ordinary and become one of the great leaders of modern India, students as the future of the nation should also strive, work progressively to achieve their goals and become stakeholders in the nation building process.

            On the occasion, students from Dr Ambedkar Convent School, Bantalab and Rajpura presented enthralling cultural performances communicating strong social messages.

            Many prominent members of the society were present on the occasion.
