UDHAMPUR, Feb 9: Udhampur Police today foiled two separate attempts of bovine smuggling and rescued 45 bovines besides arresting two smugglers.
These bovines were being smuggled in trucks, which were also seized by the Police and two FIRs have been registered in this connection in Police Station Udhampur.
One truck, bearing registration number JK03G-2547 was intercepted by a Police party at Jakhani. Upon checking, it was found loaded with 22 bovines which were being transported towards Kashmir valley without any valid permission.
All the bovines were rescued and driver of the truck, namely Zahid Hasan Sheikh, son of Gh Hasan Sheikh of Kulgam was arrested on the spot. In this regards case FIR number 77/2023, under section 88 IPC, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Udhampur.
While foiling another attempt, team of Police Post Roundomail arrested another smuggler namely Yaqoob, son of Rosan Din of Chamba, Himachal Pradesh, who was smuggling 23 bovines in a vehicle bearing registration number UP11AT-9657. In this regard, case FIR number 78 of 2023, under section 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Udhampur.
The success was achieved by the Police team, led by SHO Udhampur, Insp Raghubir Singh and PSI Rhythm Sharma, under the supervision of SSP Udhampur Dr Vinod Kumar, Addl SP Udhampur, Anwaar Ul Haq and DySP Hqrs. Gurmeet Singh.
