UDHAMPUR, Mar 12: Udhampur Police recovered 43.5 kgs of poppy straw from a truck at Roundomail and arrested two persons, in this connection.
The arrested accused were driver of the truck and his accomplice, namely Surinder Singh alias Shinda, son of Veersa Singh and Navpreet Singh son of Malookh Singh, both of VPO Nadala tehsil Bhulath. Police seized the poppy straw and registered a case FIR No. 106/2018 U/S 8/15/29 NDPS Act at Police Station Udhampur.
Acting on reliable information regarding illegal smuggling of poppy straw, a Police party of PP Roun Domail, led by SI Khyatiman Khajuria, under the supervision of SHO Udhampur, Insp. Sanjeev Gupta and SDPo Kameshwar Puri, laid a naka and intercepted the truck bearing registration number PB 09X- 0285. During thorough search, 43.5 kgs of poppy straw was recovered from the vehicle.
