E-office damp squib

E-office is a gift of advanced information technology. It has many merits and the advanced countries have shifted to what is called e-office meaning computerization and digitalizing. Our country has adequately responded to the challenges of information technology. The Union Government has agreed that its various ministries and departments would gradually shift to e-office system for the sake of bringing efficiency and transparency to bureaucratic exercise. At a presentation on the status of implementation of e-office project made by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) at a conference on e-governance, it was disclosed to the surprise of the audience that at least 32 very important organizations connected with the security and development of the country were not fully covered by e-office system. Out of these 8 are vital police organizations directly connected with the security of the State and these also remain outside the e-office umbrella. Included among these are Intelligence Bureau (IB), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), National Investigation Agency (NIA), Bureau of Police Research & Development, National Crime Records Bureau, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, Hyderabad, North Eastern Police Academy, Shillong, and National Institute of Criminology & Forensic Science.
We believe that for good and efficient governance and particularly for ensuring fool proof security in the country, it is important that all outstanding organizations are brought under e-office system. That will immensely improve speed and efficiency of disposing of official cases. People would like that there is efficiency and speed in these departments.
