In reply to the question about the estimated number of ultras operating across the border, Abdullah said that no details of exact number of ultras in PoK and Pakistan were readily available.

He, while replying to a question about the steps taken to ensure their return to the state under the policy of return of the persons in PoK, said State Government has notified the policy and procedure in November 2010 for return of those belonged to J&K, who had crossed over to PoK, Pakistan for training but have given up violence due to change of hearts.

“They are willing to return to the state to join mainstream and contribute to the state and nation buildings,” he said.

Under this policy, joint check posts at Wagha, Attari, Salamabad, Chakan-Da-Bagh crossings on LoC and IGI airport in New Delhi have been identified as the routes for the return of these individuals.

However, no individual have returned to the State via these approved routes, he said. (AGENCIES)
