UDHAMPUR, Mar 25: In two successes, Udhampur Police today recovered 41 kg of contraband substance (poppy straw) from three inter-State narcotic smugglers at Chenani while 25.5 grms of Heroine was seized from another drug peddler at Kud.
Giving details, SSP Udhampur Rajiv Pandey said that a police party led by SHO Chenani, Inspector Paramjeet Singh, under the supervision of SDPO Santokh Raj, laid a naka at Motorshed, NHW and intercepted two trucks bearing registration number PB05N-9992 and PB29L 9786.
During thorough search, 41 kg of poppy straw was recovered from both the trucks. The accused namely Satnam Singh, son of Darshan Singh of Saleempura, Amritsar, Harbans Singh son of Prem Singh of Village Bulley Bag and Gurdeep Singh alias Rockey son of Sohan Singh of Ludhiana were arrested on the spot and recovered poppy straw was also seized.
In this connection, case has been registered at Police station Chenani and further investigation is going on.
Meanwhile, in another case, Udhampur Police today seized 25.5 gms of Chitta during surprise naka at Kud. The accused, who was on his way from Patnitop to Kud on foot, was identified as Jeevan Singh, son of Sita Ram of Mall Road Kud, Udhampur.
The said accused was arrested on the spot and Chitta seized. In this connection, a case FIR number 06/2019 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS act has been registered at PS Kud.
