UDHAMPUR, July 26: In a major success, Udhampur Police today arrested a drug peddler and recovered 40 kg poppy straw, which was being smuggled by the accused in a truck from Kashmir.
Acting on specific information, a police party led by SHO Udhampur Inspector Sanjeev Gupta and under the supervision of Dy SP Hqrs Udhampur, Kameshwar Puri and Additional SP Faisal Qureshi, laid a surprise naka near Jakheni at NHW and intercepted a truck bearing registration number PB08BZ-8935.
On being searched, 40 kg poppy straw was recovered from the truck following which Police arrested the driver namely Satnam Singh, son of Lashkar Singh of Dasua, Hoshiarpur. Police also seized the poppy straw as well as the truck.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 338/17 under section 8/15 NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Udhampur.
