4 yrs RI in molestation case

JAMMU, Apr 11: Y P Kotwal, Presiding Officer of Fast Track Court constituted to deal with the cases relating to women, today awarded four years RI and fine of Rs 30,000 to Ravi Kumar, who was facing trial for molesting a girl.
After hearing APP GS Charak appearing for the State whereas Advocate Ravinder Kumar appearing for the accused, Presiding Officer observed, “taking into consideration mitigating circumstances available on the record, convict is sentenced to under 3 years RI and fine of Rs 20,000 under Section 458 RPC”.
“He is further sentenced to under one year RI and a fine of Rs 10,000 under Section 354 RPC”, the court said while clarifying that both the sentences will run concurrently. The Court directed that in case fine amount is realized from the convict then an amount of Rs 30,000 shall be paid to prosecutrix as compensation who suffered due to the act of the convict.
