4 women among 12 die in Jammu, 798 new cases

63 J&K Bank, 31 SBI, 22 from ICICI +ve in RAT

2 KAS, 9 docs, 29 of CMO office positive

JAMMU, Sept 5: Jammu region today reported record 12 Corona casualties, four of them women, and 798 positive cases, 520 in Jammu district alone which were more than Kashmir region’s total 512 cases, as two more KAS officers-one each in Udhampur and Kishtwar, 29 employees of CMO office Doda, nine doctors, two Nurses, three employees of DC office Samba, 14 Government employees from Poonch and a bride-groom were infected.
Of 12 casualties today, Jammu district accounted for five, Kathua four while one death each took place in Udhampur, Doda and Rajouri districts.
A total of 352 persons today tested positive for COVID-19 in Rapid Antigen Testing-236 in urban and rest in rural areas including 295 employees of different banks, the highest being 63 in Zonal Office of Jammu and Kashmir Bank, 31 in State Bank of India (16 Head Office and 15 Bahu Plaza), 22 ICICI Bank Residency Road, four Bank of Baroda, eight UCO Bank Raghunath Bazaar, five Union Bank Channi Himmat, five Central Bank of India Shalamar, eight JCC Bank Parade, nine Canara Bank Shiv Nagar, seven HDFC Bank Narwal, four Illaquai Dehati Bank, seven YES Bank Green Belt, two Bank of India Residency Road, six Punjab and Sind Bank Nanak Nagar, 15 Indus Sindh Bank Bahu Plaza, two Indian Bank Residency Road and one Axis Bank Ramada.
Other RAT positive include two in Office of Funds Organization Muthi, five Directorate of Horticulture Talab Tillo, 12 SPG Unit, seven Best Price, eight Government Dental Hospital and one Shakti Nagar.
Meanwhile, a 42-year-old woman from Jawala Mukhi in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh presently putting up at Railways West Colony in Jammu district died of Coronavirus tonight in GMC Jammu, Medical Superintendent Dr Dara Singh said.
A 64-year-old man from Dansal, who was co-morbid and 50-year-old from Nai Basti, who was suffering from bilateral Community Acquired Pneumonia died in the GMC Jammu today. Both of them were positive for COVID-19.
A 60-year-old woman from Paloura and 63-year-old from Rehari, who too were co-morbid and positive for the virus, died in Narayana Hospital Katra.
Of four deaths in Kathua, a 63-year-old woman from Rajbagh died in ASCOMS Sidhra where she was under treatment for various ailments and had tested positive for the virus while an 80-year-old woman and 65-year-old man died in the GMC Kathua. A 67-year-old male from Kathua died in the GMC Jammu late last night where he was admitted since September 1. All of them were co-morbid and had tested positive for Coronavirus during treatment.
A man from Housing Colony Udhampur, who was suffering from depression, accidental intoxication with organ phosphorous for last month, died in Narayana Hospital today. He had tested negative for Coronavirus twice but on September 2 tested positive for the virus.
A 62-year-old male from Chowki Nowshera in Rajouri district who had tested COVID positive on September 3 and was under home isolation felt chest pain this afternoon and died on way to the GMC Rajouri.
A 40-year-old male from Puneja Thathri in Doda district, who was under treatment at PGI Chandigarh for brain hemorrhage and was positive for the virus, died there. His body was brought to his native village and cremated as per COVID protocol.
With 12 deaths, Jammu region’s Corona toll has gone up to 94 including 61 in Jammu district, nine Kathua, five each Rajouri, Ramban and Doda, four Udhampur, three Samba and one each in Ramban and Kishtwar districts.
Four doctors tested positive in Jammu district while two Nurses were infected in the GMC Jammu.
Seventy two persons, the highest in a day, tested positive for COVID-19 in Udhampur district today, District Magistrate Dr Piyush Singla said.
The positives include a KAS officer posted as Project Officer in Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS), three employees of Devika Bank, two from ZEO office and many civilians from Sailan Talab and Gole Market.
Twenty nine employees in the office of CMO Doda including two Dental doctors, paramedics and Ministerial staff, majority from Programme Management Unit, today tested Corona positive.
The Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) in Kishtwar, who is a KAS officer, his cook, five Health Department employees including two doctors bride-groom whose several family members, relatives and contacts had already tested positive, were today found infected in Kishtwar district.
Rajouri district today reported 46 fresh Corona cases including 22 from Nowshera alone, one of them a dental surgeon, four each from Rajouri town and Kalakote, two Sunderbani including one driver of Sub District Hospital, one from Darhal and 13 travelers, SSP Rajouri Chandan Kohli said.
Poonch district reported 33 new cases-14 Government employees and 19 contacts of positive persons, SSP Poonch Ramesh Angral said.
Of 27 positive cases in Kathua district, three hailed from GMC Kathua and two from Sub District Hospital Billawar.
Fifteen persons tested positive for COVID-19 in random sampling while six each were contacts of positive cases and travelers, according to District Magistrate OP Bhagat.
Twenty three persons reported positive for the virus in Samba district including three employees of the office of Deputy Commissioner and one each jawan of BSF and police. Rest were Government officials, travelers and contacts.
An ICDS Supervisor, three JKP personnel, one CRPF jawan, a PHE official, a driver and one helper of a shopkeeper were among 13 positive cases reported from Reasi district.
Nineteen Corona positive cases were reported from Ramban. They include two Railway workers from Sumber and three civilians from Neera Red Zone besides other locals.
As per the official figures, Jammu region now has 11,150 Corona cases. Among them, 3975 were active positive as 7084 persons have been treated and discharged while there have been 94 casualties.
As many as 123 Corona patients were today discharged from various hospitals after testing negative, the maximum being 68 in Jammu district, nine each in Kathua and Udhampur, eight each in Rajouri and Doda districts and four each in Samba and Poonch districts.
The Union Territory of Ladakh today reported 61 new Corona cases-34 in Leh and 27 in Kargil.
This has taken Ladakh’s Corona tally to 2996 and active cases to 834 while there have been 2127 recoveries and 35 deaths.
