POONCH, July 21: The police seized four vehicles loaded with 20 bovine animals on Mughal road and arrested six persons in this connection early today.
The police at Bafliaz and Surankote, which has intensified `nakkas’ on Mughal road on the directions of SP Poonch, Shamsheer Hussain, intercepted four Tata Mobile vehicles bearing registration Nos. JK-18/5510, JK03B/9331, JK-11/ 304 and JK-11A/1938 near Bafliaz and found total 20 bovine animals loaded in these. The animals were being taken to Kashmir valley from Rajouri.
The police arrested all the six persons including two traders (smugglers) and four drivers. They were identified as Mohd Imtiaz, son of Mohd Qasim of Panj Grain in Manjakote and Mohd Shabir, son of Khewan, resident of Barote in Manjakot (both traders), Mudassar Ahmed, son of Ghulam Nabi, resident of Bachroo in Kulgam, Khursheed Ahmed, son of Abdul Rehman of Heerpora Shopian, Abdul Hameed, son of Abdul Ghani of Thannamandi and Mohd Younis, son of Abdul Khaliq, resident of Thanamandi in Rajouri.
The police registered a case FIR No. 105/2013 in this connection at Surankote Police Station and started investigation. The animals were rescued.
