JAMMU, Dec 25: A four-storey building was gutted in devastating fire at Lakhdatta Bazaar area, one of the most congested market places in the city.
As per police sources, a fire broke out in the cloth shop owned by Tejinder Singh, son of Puran Singh, a resident of Channi Himmat at Lakhdatta Bazaar this morning.
After getting information, police team led by SDPO City Perbeet Singh Parihar along with SHO Pir Mitha police station Inspector Javed Akhter rushed to the spot and informed the Department of Fire and Emergency Services.
On getting information, fire fighter along with fire tenders reached the spot and started operation to douse the flames. Around 10 fire tenders were used to control the flames, but till then the material kept in the shop was totally gutted in fire.
No injury or casualty has been reported in the incident, while the exact loss could not be ascertained yet.
A case in this regard has been registered at Pir Mitha police station and investigation started to ascertain the reason behind the fire.
