JAMMU, July 4: Trade authorities at Chakan-Da-Bagh have seized four trucks loaded with almonds from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) following reports that almonds were California grown and not PoK.
Two trucks imported by the traders from this part of the States from PoK were seized yesterday while two others were seized today, official sources said.
They added that the Trade authorities on this side pointed out that almonds were California made and not PoK.
‘‘Four trucks loaded with almonds, which came from PoK yesterday and two have been seized. Samples of almonds have been taken and sent to FSL’’, sources said, adding the trucks would be cleared only when it was confirmed that almonds were PoK grown.
The Trade authorities had received complaints that California grown almonds were being sent by the PoK traders to their counterparts in J&K.
Traders in Poonch, however, claimed that trucks carrying same almonds have been cleared by the authorities on Uri-Muzaffarabad route in Kashmir.
