SRINAGAR, Apr 26: Continuing its drive against drug abuse, Awantipora Police under the command of SP Awantipora Shridhar Patil arrested four notorious drug peddlers.
Awantipora Police under the provisions of J&K Prevention of illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1988 arrested four notorious drug Peddlers/ Traffickers. The arrested peddlers were identified as Feroz Ahmad Chopan son of Mushtaq Ahmad Chopan resident of Larow Jageer Tral District Pulwama, Nissar Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Maqbool Dar resident of Khanu Langate Tehsil Kralgund District Kupwara, Nazir Ahmad Lone son of Abdul Gani Lone resident of Khankah Midoora Awantipora District Pulwama and Gulzar Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Gani Bhat resident of Shahabad Kharpora Awantipora. These drug peddlers after the arrest were lodged at Central Jail Srinagar, District Jail Baramulla and Kupwara.
They were involved in exploiting the young generation by making them dependent on drugs for their illegal monetary gains. They were involved in various cases which were registered under NDPS Act wherein substantial quantities of contraband were recovered.
