He said that based on information, “immediately a general alert was sounded across the district and two teams were constituted to trace the missing boys”.
“The teams started searches in the forest areas uphill side of the village Gulgam adjoining to the LoC. At about 1800 hours, one of the teams intercepted four missing boys in a Nallah in dense forest close to LoC and they were shifted to police station Kupwara,” the SSP said.
He identified the missing boys as 14 year old Shahid Ahmad Pir, son of Muhamad Amin Pir, resident of Pir Mohalla Gulgam, 15 year old Waheed Ahmad Gojree, son of Muhamad Sultan Gojree, resident of Deldjan Gulgam village, 15 year old Zeeshan Ahmad Lone, son of Ghulam Rasool Lone, resident of Tangwari Gulgam and 16 year old Ubaid Ahamd Gojree, son of Abdul Razaq Gojree, resident of Tanwari Gulgam.
The SSP further said that during preliminary interrogation, the boys have revealed that they intended to cross the LoC “as they were fed-up with the lifestyle at their respective homes and also due to repeated scolding by their parents over different issues including studies”. “They further disclosed that they were in search of some jobs to change their lifestyle”, the SSP said.
Hussain said that the boys being of tender age have been handed over to their parents after proper counselling so as to give them a chance to rehabilitate with their families and added that the further enquiries are in progress so as to ascertain the role of any outsider who have motivated or lured these boys of tender age to flee from their homes.
