Srinagar: Four militants were killed in a gunfight between militants and security forces in Watrigam village of South Kashmir’s Anantnag distrct on today.
Inspector General of a Police Kashmir, Vijay Kumar told Excelsior that they were killed during an operation in Watergam village.
He said operation was launched after a tip-off to Police about presence of militants in the valley. He said a joint team of security forces were fired upon by the hiding militants, triggering an encounter.
He said four militants were killed during an exchange of fire. However the identification of the militants is yet to be ascertained.
He said they belong to Hizb and Lashkar.
