LeT module busted in Budgam, 3 arrested

SRINAGAR, June 21: Security forces today shot dead four militants including killer of Sub-Inspector of Police in two separate gun battles in Kashmir.
Inspector General of Police Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, said that so far 118 militants including 32 foreigners were killed in Kashmir this year including 77 of Lashkar-e-Toiba and 22 of Jaish-e-Mohammad. However, last year 55 militants including two foreigners were eliminated during the same period.

Acting on specific information input generated by police regarding presence of militants in village Tujjan in Pulwama district, a joint cordon and search operation was launched by police, 53 RR of Army and Central Reserve Police Force.
The hiding militants fired indiscriminately upon the search party which was retaliated leading to an encounter. Two militants of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) were killed and they have been identified as Abid Ahmad Sheikh, resident of Barpora Pulwama and Majid Nazir Wani, resident of Banpora, Ladoo Pampore.
As per police records, both the killed militants were part of group involved in several militancy related cases including attacks on security forces and civilians. Besides, Wani was also involved in the killing of SI Farooq Ahmad.
Incriminating materials, huge cache of arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter.
Two more militants were killed in Tulibal area of Sopore in district Baramulla in an operation launched by police, Army and CRPF on the basis of specific input generated by police regarding presence of militants.
During the search operation, militants fired indiscriminately upon the search party which was retaliated leading to an encounter. Two militants of LeT were killed and they have been identified as Zahid Ahmad Chopan, resident of Tengwani Shopian and Mohd Youns Gul, resident of Washbugh Pulwama.
As per police records, both the militants had joined militancy fold recently. Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including two AK-47 rifles and four magazines have been recovered from the site of encounter.
Security forces arrested a hybrid militant of LeT in Baramulla and busted a militant module of of LeT by arresting three militant associates in Budgam.
In Baramulla, acting on specific information regarding movement of militants; a joint checkpoint was established near Zuhama crossing by Police and 52RR of army.
The troops at checkpoint noticed suspicious movement of a person who tried to flee from the spot. However, he was apprehended and has been was identified as Shahid Ahmad Parray son of Ghulam Ahmad Parray, resident of Kathpora Hajin.
Police said that on his personal search, incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including one pistol, one pistol magazine, seven pistol rounds and two hand grenades were recovered from his possession.
Preliminary investigation by police revealed that the accused was working as a hybrid militant with the LeT and was in an attempt to carry out militant activities in Baramulla town and adjacent areas.
A case (vide FIR No. 107/2022 under relevant Sections of law) has been registered at Police Station Baramulla.
Meanwhile, police in Budgam along with 53RR of Army and CRPF busted a militant module of the LeT by arresting three associates identified as Ashiq Hussain Hajam son of Ghulam Mohammad Hajam, Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Dar son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar, both residents of Zuhama Chadoora and Tahir Bin Ahmed son of Ghulam Ahmed Hajam, resident of Badipora Chadoora.
Preliminary investigation by police revealed that the arrested trio was involved in facilitating transportation of militants, arms, explosive materials and providing logistic support to the militants of the LeT in district Budgam.
Police said that incriminating material, arms and ammunition including one Chinese Pistol, two pistol magazines, 22 pistol rounds, one AK magazine and 30 AK rounds have been recovered from their possession. Besides, one motorcycle used in militancy bearing registration number JK01N-8067 has also been seized.
A case (vide FIR No. 114/2022 under relevant Sections of law) was registered at Police Station Chadoora and further investigation is in progress.
