SRINAGAR, June 27: Four persons died while 16 others were injured in different road mishaps today.
A police spokesman said a Sumo skidded off the road and fell into a canal at Thajal in Uri, Baramulla, resulting in on spot death of four passengers and injuries to 11 passengers.
The victims have been identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Kakroo of Karkoot, Mohammad Haneef Awan of Thajal, Noor Hassan of Thajal, and Manzoor Ahmad of Ramban.
Seven of the injured were rushed to Baramulla Hospital and 4 have been shifted to Uri hospital.
The accident on the road has taken place because the authorities are illegally allowing vehicles to ply on the under-construction road, which is being built under PMGSY.
A Santro car JK05C- 5712 collided with a 407 matador JK05A-1004 at Miran Chowk in Kreeri, Baramulla, resulting in injuries to the Santro car driver Ghulam Mohammad Bhat and his wife Shubeen of Pachhar Wagoora.
A Wagon-R JK14/8101 rammed into an electric pole at Banday bagh Serch in Ganderbal, resulting in injuries to two women boarding in the vehicle.
An unknown truck hit a swift car JK02AT/8649 at National Highway near Zig in Qazigund resulting in injuries to Manisha Sharma wife of G.L Khajuria of Shastri Nagar, Jammu who was travelling in swift car.
A Sumo JK01K-6796 while on way from Drugmulla to Kupwara hit and injured a pedestrian Ghulam Hassan Lone son of Sattar of Gugloosa, Kupwara near DC office Kupwara.
A Tanker JK02AX/4481 hit and injured a pedestrian Shakeela wife of Bashir Ahmad of Nowgam at Kadlibal Pampore in Pampore, Awantipora.
A passenger Mohammad Yousuf Chopan son of Ghulam Hassan Chopan of Keenagund Chattergul in Anantang fell from a vehicle JK03C-4650 at Ranipora in Achabal resulting in injuries to him.
The spokesman said the injured have been shifted to hospitals for treatment and police has registered cases.
