4 killed as car plunges into Chenab

DODA, Nov 8: Four youth were killed after a car they were travelling in skidded off the road and plunged into river Chenab near Shibnot area this evening.
As per official sources, a Swift car bearing registration number JK06-9297 plunged into river Chenab near Shibnot area between Thathri and Prem Nagar here.
After getting information, a massive rescue operation was launched by police, Army and local volunteers. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doda Abdul Qayoom also rushed to the spot and supervised the rescue operation.
Four youth identified as Rohan Mangotra, Adit Kotwal, Surjeet Singh and Vishal Chandail were travelling in the car when the accident took place and all of them were killed as vehicle submerged into the river.
Due to darkness, the rescue operation was stopped and will resume tomorrow morning.
However, a case under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station Thathri and investigation also started to ascertain the cause behind the accident.
When contacted, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doda Abdul Qayoom confirmed about the casualties in the accident.
“The search operation was stopped due to darkness and will resume tomorrow early morning”, he added.
Meanwhile, MoS PMO Dr Jitendra Singh, who is also Member of Parliament from the same area, has expressed grief over the loss of precious lives in this accident.
He also talked to Deputy Commissioner Doda Vishesh Paul Mahajan and directed him to put in all efforts to trace out the victims.
