4 houses, 2 cattle sheds perish in fire

KATHUA, June 4: In a tragic fire incident which occurred during the midnight at village Jhanker of tehsil Basohli, four houses and two cattle sheds were burnt into ashes. Fortunately the timely action of villagers rescued the family members. But there was huge loss of property.
The houses belonged to Naresh Kumar, Sham Lal, Joginder Pal, Swarn Kumar, and Parkesh Chand. The four families have suffered heavy loss of property in the fire. As per villagers, the fire broke out of Kachha cattle shed and engulfed the four Kachha house and two cattle shed.
As there was no source to douse the fire, there was either no fire tender services in tehsil Basohli which caused to be heavy losses to property and household articles. After the hard efforts of villagers they succeeded to evacuate the family members from the houses.
After getting the information a team of Revenue Department rushed to village Jkanker this morning to assess the loss. The Basohli administration issued free ration, blanket, utensils to affected families. The social organizations also came forward to help the affected families. They demanded the exgratia relief for the rehabilitation of the fire victims.
