Srinagar, Apr 14: Police in Baramulla today arrested four gamblers and seized stake money and playing cards from their possession.
Authorities said that, acting on specific information regarding gambling activities along the roadside at Goshbugh Pattan, a police party raided the specific spot.
“They recovered stake money amounting to Rs 4,550 and playing cards from possession of apprehended gamblers,” police said.
The accused, police said, have been identified as Waseem Ahmad Dar, son of Mohd Akram; Mohd Yousuf Dar, son of Mohd Abdullah, both residents of Tangpora; Khursheed Ahmad Punoo, son of Gh Ahmad; and Shafi Ahmad Baba, son of Bashir Ahmad, both residents of Gohal Chakoo.
“They have been shifted to PS Pattan where they remain in custody,” police said.
