4 fully vaccinated but co-morbid persons among 5 die in Jammu, 996 new COVID cases

One death, 165 fresh positives in Ladakh

*SSP among 75 cops test +ve in SKPA, 12 at Sectt

JAMMU, Feb 2: Five persons died of COVID-19 and 996 tested positive in Jammu region today. All the dead were co-morbid but four of them were fully vaccinated. Four casualties took place in Jammu district and one in Rajouri.
Seventy five police personnel, one of them in the rank of SSP, have tested positive for COVID-19 in Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA) Udhampur.
Among the SKPA Udhampur positives, 67 were trainees and eight staff members.
All of them have been isolated.
Twelve more officials were found infected at the Civil Secretariat, the seat of the Government, and one at Raj Bhawan. The Secretariat positives belonged to departments like Public Works, Health, Education, GAD and Information & Technology.
Half a dozen at Police Hospital Gandhi Nagar and two officials of Jammu and Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC) have also tested positive for viral infection. Seven persons tested positive at Narwal Sabzi Mandi.
Twenty two pilgrims of holy cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi Ji were found infected on their arrival at Katra Railway Station.
A 73-year-old man from Nanak Nagar and 63-year-old male from Old Rehari died of co-morbidities and COVID-19 at Narayana Hospital Katra.
A 65-year-old woman from Talab Tillo and 90-year-old man from NITCO Lane Talab Tillo succumbed to the virus and multiple ailments at the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu.
An 85-year-old man from Dalogada near Poli Mata Mandir in Rajouri district died of COVID-19 at the GMC Jammu. He was co-morbid too.
Barring NITCO Lane Talab Tillo man, all four dead persons were fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
Five casualties have taken Corona toll in Jammu division to 2294, the highest being 1212 in Jammu district, 246 Rajouri, 162 Kathua, 144 Udhampur, 142 Doda, 122 Samba, 107 Poonch, 69 Ramban and 45 each in Kishtwar and Reasi districts.
For the past one week, daily recoveries continued to exceed fresh COVID positive cases. As against 996 new cases today, 1433 persons recovered from the virus.
Out of 996 new cases, 443 were reported from Jammu district, 128 Udhampur, 104 Doda, 84 Ramban, 56 Samba, 54 Kishtwar, 39 Reasi, 37 Rajouri, 36 Kathua and 15 in Poonch district.
Jammu region now has 1,59,579 Corona cases. Among them, 1,48,738 have recovered from the virus while there were 8547 active positive cases and 2294 fatalities.
Jammu district continued to top in active positive cases with 4431 followed by 1200 in Doda, 618 Ramban, 472 Samba, 440 Udhampur, 389 Poonch, 321 Kathua, 274 Kishtwar, 233 Rajouri and 169 in Reasi district.
Meanwhile, one person died of COVID-19 while165 new cases were recorded in the Union Territory of Ladakh today.
A 79-year-old man hailing from Chogalamsar in Leh district died of ailments and Coronavirus in the district today taking COVID toll in the Union Territory to 225 including 166 in Leh district and 59 in Kargil.
Out of 165 new COVID positive cases in Ladakh, 77 were registered in Leh district and 88 in Kargil.
Ladakh now has 1104 active positive cases—724 in Leh district and 380 in Kargil district.
Corona count in Ladakh stood at 26186. Among them, 24857 have been treated.
