4 drug peddlers arrested with poppy straw, cash, heroin

JAMMU, May 15: Four drug peddlers have been arrested along with poppy straw, cash and heroin.
As per police sources, a joint police party of Police Station Bagh-e-Bahu led by SHO Inspector Sunil Kumar Sharma and SOG Jammu led by SI Shabir Kohli during checking near Environmental Park intercepted a truck bearing registration number PB65K-1613.
During checking, police team recovered 210 kilograms of poppy straw and Rs 90,000 cash from the possession of driver and his associate and arrested them.
The arrested persons have been identified as Dalbir Singh, son of Karnail Singh of Ward Number 13, Bhagwan Pura, Ludhiana and Lakhwinder Singh, son of Balkar Singh of Machhi Wada, Ludhiana.
A case under FIR Number 44/19 under section 8/15 NDPS has been registered at Police Station Bagh-e-Bahu and investigation started.
Meanwhile, a team from Bhatindi Police Post apprehended a drug peddler and recovered 2 to 2.50 grams heroin from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Abdul Qayoom, son of Gulzar Ahmed, a resident of Tehsil Dooru, District Anantnag.
A case under FIR Number 135/19 under section 8/21 NDPS Act has been registered at Bahu Fort Police Station and investigation started.
In another case, a joint team of Police Station Nagrota led by SI Ankuj Kumar and Anti Drugs Task Force intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK03E-3983 for checking.
During checking, police recovered 72.5 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the driver, who has been identified as Farooq Ahmed Kumar, son of Abdul Salam Kumar, a resident of District Anantnag.
A case under FIR Number 209/19 under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Nagrota and investigation started.
