REASI, May 1: In two separate cases, four drug peddlers were arrested today and 1.45 kg poppy straw was seized from their possession.
While two drug peddlers were arrested under the jurisdiction of Reasi Police Station, the other two were held at Katra.
Reports said that a Police team led by SHO Reasi, Insp Ashwani Sharma laid a naka at Nai Basti DPO road and intercepted an auto bearing registration number JK20-1459, which was being driven by one Ram Kishore son of Bansi Lal of Ward number 3, Nai Basti Reasi. During checking, 950 gms of poppy straw was recovered beneath the driver’s seat. On disclosure of the driver, his accomplice namely Sunil Kumar alias Sonu Sukhetaria son of Sudesh Kumar of Ward No 13 Seela Reasi was apprehended along with his black Alto car bearing registration number 1758-JKO2AD from Larhi Adda Reasi.
In this case, FIR number 82/2019 U/S 8/15/29 NDPS Act was registered and investigation started. The whole operation was conducted under the supervision of Waseem Hamdani, Dysp Hqrs Reasi and Shiv Kumar Chauhan, Addl SP Reasi.
Meanwhile, Katra Police also seized 500 gms poppy straw from the possession of two drug peddlers namely Sham Lal son of Lal Chand and Pankaj Kumar son of Bodh Raj, both resident of Battal Balian Udhampur. The accused were coming towards Banganga and were arrested near Auto Stand.
A case FIR No 104/2019 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Katra against them. The arrest were made by SHO Katra, Insp Pardeep Gupta, assisted by SI Varinder Singh, I/C PP Banganga under the supervision of SP Katra Naresh Singh.
