REASI, Oct 28: Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Shahid Iqbal Choudhary today attached 4 doctors and placed 5 other officials of the Health Department under suspension for dereliction of duty and indulging in malpractices.
Dr Mohammad Ismail, Dr Rekha Soan, Dr Ajaz Ahmed Lone and Dr Arshad Hussain have been attached with the office of Chief Medical Officer after preliminary enquiry found them guilty of misconduct and unauthorised absence.
Meanwhile, Sunita Kumari, Abdul Hamid, Nanak Chand, Suraj Prakash, Daleep Singh and Karnail Singh have been placed under suspension with immediate effect. CMO Dr Mohammad Younis has been asked for making immediate alternate arrangements at PHC Banna in Mahore tehsil.
According to an official handout, on October 23, 2013 Deputy Commissioner received a telephonic complaint from Panchayat Banna about death of a child, who could not be provided treatment as the PHC was found locked when the patient was shifted there.
On this, DC ordered an enquiry during which it was established that all the doctors were absent from duty and had not attended the hospital for more than 10 days in a row.  It was also found that neither the Inpatient Department and Outpatient Department registers were maintained nor any kind of immunisation and stock register was filled up. The supporting staff including FMPHW, BHO, NOs and helpers were also not attending their duties during this period.
Taking serious note of the lapse on part of health officials, the Deputy Commissioner today attached all the four doctors while remaining staff members were placed under suspension. He has directed the Chief Medical Officer to make alternative arrangement of doctors and paramedical staff for PHC Banna.
In another similar report received from PHC Gotta in Mahore, the Deputy Commissioner has asked the CMO to conduct enquiry and recommend necessary action.
