2 die of COVID in Jammu, 85 test +ve

158 recover from virus

JAMMU/ LEH, Jan 8: Two persons died one each in Jammu and Rajouri districts–and 85 others tested positive for COVID-19 while 158 others recovered from the virus in Jammu region today.
A 75-year-old man hailing from Upper Shiv Nagar in Jammu and 53-year-old from village Argi in Rajouri district succumbed to COVID-19 today.
The two COVID deaths have taken Corona casualties in the Jammu region to 709, the highest being 363 in Jammu district followed by 64 Doda, 57 Udhampur, 55 Rajouri, 49 Kathua, 39 Samba, 24 Poonch, 22 Kishtwar, 21 Ramban and 15 in Reasi district.
Eighty five persons today tested positive for the virus in Jammu region, 48 of them in Jammu district alone and 10 in Samba district.
Rest of the district had below two-digit cases.
While Udhampur reported six Corona positive cases, Rajouri and Doda had five each, Kathua four, Poonch three and Ramban and Reasi districts two each. Kishtwar district didn’t report any fresh case today.
Among 158 persons, who recovered from the virus in Jammu region, 130 belonged to Jammu district, 14 Rajouri, eight Kathua and one in Poonch. Rest of the districts didn’t report any recoveries.
Jammu region now has 50647 Corona cases including 1044 active positives while 48894 have recovered from the virus and there have been 709 casualties.
Meanwhile, only one Corona positive case was today reported in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
The positive case was reported in Leh district taking the UT’s Corona count to 9601 including 203 acitve cases and 9271 recoveries.
There have been 127 Corona casualties in Ladakh including 84 in Leh district and 43 in Kargil district.
