JAMMU, June 9: Continuing its drive against the bovine smuggling in the area, district police Samba has foiled bovine smuggling bid by rescuing four animals at Manohar Gopala, Samba in the jurisdiction of Police Station, Samba.
During the intervening night of June 8 and 9 a police party of PP Rakh Ambtalli headed by SI. Chetan Kumar, under the supervision of Inspector, Shiv Dev Singh, SHO P/S Samba & Deepak Digra, Dy.SP Hqrs. Samba during vehicle checking at Pangdour Chowk, Samba signalled to stop one Mahindra vehicle bearing registration Number JK08C-9446 which was coming from Kathua side via border road.
The driver on seeing police party accelerated the speed of the vehicle and abandoned it at Manohar Gopala, Samba.
During checking of the vehicle four bovines were tied with ropes in a very cruel manner inside the vehicle which were being transported without any permission.
All the bovines were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting bovine animals was also seized on the spot.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 117/2019 U/S 188/RPC 2/3 PCA Act has been registered at P/S Samba and investigation started.
