4-5 missing in tipper mishap

KISHTWAR, June 18: Four to five persons including a driver were missing when the tipper they were traveling in skidded off the road and plunged into river Chenab near Silper Morh in Padder, this evening.
As per police sources, a tipper was on its way to extract stones from a nallah when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it plunged into river Chenab near this Silper Morh in Padder late evening.
The accident came to fore when the tipper along with the persons did not turn back.
The relatives of the persons accompanying the tipper informed the police.
On getting information, police team rushed to the spot and with the help of locals started rescue operation after finding damaged parapet near Silper Morh.
All the occupants traveling in the tipper were missing when the last reports were compiled.
Due to bad light, the rescue operation could not be carried out and it was impossible to ascertain the exact details of casualties or injuries but as per eyewitnesses, four to five persons were travelling in the tipper, police sources informed.
The truck has plunged from a height and casualties are feared, police sources said, adding that the rescue operation will be launched with first light on tomorrow morning.
However, Atholi Police has taken cognizance in this regard.
