LEH, Oct 5: Over 39 students of Jawahar Navodya Vidyalya (JNV) Leh are still undergoing treatment at Leh hospital here.
After the recent food poisoning case, a meeting was held between JNV students’ parents, Chief Executive Councilor Dr Sonam Dawa, MP Thupstan Chhewang, local legislator Nawang Rigzin Jora and school management headed by Principal Rajesh Gupta.
Hill Council CEC, Dr Dawa informed that water sample test was found satisfactory but the food sample and stool test results were still awaited. He mentioned about the immediate steps taken which includes medical check up, water supply pipe replacement, new toilet construction and cleaning of campus. He also assured to take strict actions against those responsible in the food poisoning case.
Expressing serious concern for not inviting him for any kind of meeting inspite of being an advisory committee member by the school management, the MP informed that he had never been invited during his two year tenure. Terming it is sheer irresponsible on the part of management, Thupstan said he questioned why the Principal not suspended the entire staff immediately till the inquiry is completed.
Mr Jora alleged corruption in the school from construction of school building to the other activities. He added that though he had no right in the management as it is being run by the Central Government but that doesn’t mean that he would remains mute spectator. He said being a public representative he has the right to take note of such issues.
He announced Rs 10 lakh from his CDF to improve the school infrastructure.
CMO Leh, Dr Yanchan Dolma informed that 39 students were still admitted in the hospital as on date.
