SRINAGAR: The State Vigilance Organization (SVO), Kashmir presented a challan in a local court against 13 accused in fake appointment racket in north Kashmir.
A SVO spokesman said challan was produced in Anti-Corruption Court, Baramulla after obtaining proper sanction for launching prosecution from the competent authority.
He said the SVO has registered a case after conducting a verification into the allegations of illegal appointments made in Muncipal Council Handwara by then President and Executive Officer during the period 2007-09 in conspiracy with other accused .
He said those against whom the challan was produced included Masroor Ahmad the then President Municipal Committee Handwara (now retired), Abdul Rashid Dar the then Executive Officer Municipal Committee Handwara (retired), Mohammad Sultan Malik the then Executive Officer Municipal Committee Kupwara (retired), Zahoor Ahmad Dar Cashier-cum-clerk Municipal Committee Handwara, Miss Shaista Amin, Showket Ahmad Banday, Imran Rashid Dar, Umar Rashid Dar, Altaf Ahmad Bhat, Mohammad Sultan Bhat, Saleem Akbar Banday, Javid Ahmad Teeli and Akeel Anwar Malik, all beneficiaries.
