38 JKP officers get Prez medals

JAMMU, Aug 14: President of India today awarded President’s Police Medal in different categories 38 police officers of Jammu and Kashmir on the eve of Independence Day.
Rajinder Gupta, DIG, Police Headquarters, was the lone officer from J&K to be awarded President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Services. Mr Gupta had twice served as SSP CID and SSP Samba.
Pankaj Kumar Singh, former IGP CRPF, Kashmir, presently posted as IG (Operations) at Force Headquarters in Delhi and Jatinder Kumar Sharma, Deputy Central Intelligence Officer, Jammu, Ministry of Home Affairs have also been awarded President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Services.
Subhash Kumar, DIG SSB Jammu, R/o Karan Nagar, Jammu has also been awarded with President’s Medal for distinguished services.
Gulab Singh, head constable (posthumously), Altaf Ahmad Khan, SP, Mohammad Shafi, head constable and Ather Parvaiz, Selection Grade Constable have been awarded President’s Police Medal for Gallantry.
Fifteen officers have been awarded with President’s Medal for Gallantry.
They included Shamsheer Hussain, SSP Poonch, Mumtaz Ahmad, SP, Shopian Amit Kumar, SP Pulwama, P N Tickoo, DySP Police Headquarters (formerly posted as SDPO Katra), Amarjit Singh, DySP, Javed Ahmad Yatoo, Inspector, Harbans Lal, Selection Grade Constable, Mushtaq Ahmad, constable, Sanjeet Singh, head constable, Mohammad Rafi, constable, Qasim Din, head constable, Abdul Jabbar Bhat, selection grade constable, Nissar Ahmad, constable, Amarjit Singh, DySP and Rashid Akber, Inspector.
Eighteen police officers have been awarded President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Services.
They included Manish Kishore Sinha, DIG Rajouri-Poonch range, who had earlier served as DIG Doda range during whose tenure a number of militants were killed, arrested and surrendered, Sunil Dutt, SSP, J&K CID Cell, New Delhi, Mohammad Yousuf Shah, SP Security Headquarters, Jamil Anjam Mir, DySP Sports, Srinagar, Hira Lal Pandit, DySP, Crime Jammu, Pawan Kumar, DySP Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA) Udhampur, Firdous Ahmad Khan, DySP SSG Srinagar, Mohammad Rafiq Manhas, SDPO Basohli, Anil Kumar Raina, CID Inspector Srinagar, Abdul Rashid Bhat, SI CTC Lethpora, Kashmir, Chaman Lal Dhar, ASI Telecommunication, Headquarters, Mohammad Maqbool Rather, ASI Police Hospital, Srinagar, Subash Chander, ASI Ramban, Sat Paul, head constable, Security Headquarters, Balwan Singh, head constable, SKPA Udhampur, Bashir Ahmad, head constable, APC Humana, Ghulam Nabi, head constable, IRP 18th and Ram Chand, head constable, CTI Home Guards/Civil Defence, Jammu.
Mahendra Pal Singh Bhati, DIG BSF, Bandipora, Raj Singh Kataria, DIG BSF, Rajouri, Jameel Ahmad, Commandant, Shergarhi, Prem Sagar Sharma, Deputy Commandant, 32 BSF, Akhnoor, Madan Lal, Inspector, BSF Sunderbani, Satish Kumar, Inspector STC BSF Kashmir, Udai Ram, Inspector, BSF Rajouri, Kewal Singh Pathania, SI BSF Kupwara and Anwar Hussain, constable, Samba BSF have also been awarded President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Services for their exemplary services in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sanjiv Sharma, Commandant, CRPF Katra, Mohinder Kumar Tokas, Commandant, 179 CRPF at Sopore, Pyare Lal Verma, Second In Command, 84 CRPF, FCI Camp Chatha, Jagan Singh, Deputy Commandant, 40 CRPF, Anantnag and Rattan Lal Gupta, Deputy Commandant, CRPF Nagam, Abdul Qayoom, SI 178 CRPF, Nagam, Budgam and Saidul Jafar Khan, head constable, 25 CRPF, Humhama, Srinagar have also been awarded with President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Services.
Meanwhile, the State Government will confer Sher-i-Kashmir Medals for meritorious services to four police officers/ officials in recognition their unblemished, extra-ordinary and meritorious service in police on the occasion of Independence Day.
They are DIG Udhampur-Reasi range Jagjit Kumar, SSP, Vigilance Ali Mohammad Bhat, SP, CID Headquarter Bashir Ahmad Tameel and ASI, 4th Battalion, Abdul Rashid.
Moreover, the State Government will also confer Sher-i-Kashmir Police Medal for Gallantry to eight police personnel for exemplary acts of bravery and courage beyond the call of normal duty while dealing with the grave law and order situation prevailing in the State.
They are Javid Iqbal Ct. No. 855/D Sanjeev Singh Slathia, Inspector, Faizan Rana, Follower Irshad Hussain, DySP (Ops), Riyaz Iqbal, DySP (Ops), Mohammad Ramzan, Constable, Tashi Anchok, SGCT and Javid Iqbal Dar, Constable.
Meanwhile, keeping with the age old tradition of appreciating the brave and the gallant, the President of India has approved 62 Gallantry Awards to Armed Forces Personnel and members of Paramilitary Forces which included 15 Shaurya Chakra, one Bar to Sena Medal (Gallantry), 42 Sena Medal (Gallantry), three Nao Sena Medal (Gallantry) and one Vayu Sena Medal (Gallantry) on the eve of Independence Day 2012.
As usual, the operationally committed Northern Command has been awarded with the highest number of gallantry awards.
On this occasion, Lt Gen KT Parnaik, GOC-in-C Northern Command, also conferred Commendation Cards to 101 Officers, Fifty Eight Junior Commissioned Officer and One Hundred and Eighty Four Jawans. The Commendation Cards were also conferred on three police officers and six civilian employees.
