38 bovine animals rescued, 4 smugglers arrested

UDHAMPUR, June 9: Udhampur Police today foiled a major attempt of bovine smuggling and rescued 38 numbers of cattle, which were being smuggled to Kashmir in four vehicles.
The vehicles, two Tata Mobile and two trucks, bearing registration numbers JK02CJ- 9608, JK20A -2504, JK02BP- 5686 and JK19- 6453 were intercepted at Jakhani and during checking , 38 bovine animals were found loaded in them without any valid permission.
All the 38 bovine animals were rescued and the smugglers namely Shakeel Ahmed son of Abdul Gani of Matra, Ramban , Bal Hussain son of Bari Hussain of Jammu, Fiaz Ahmed son of Nazir Ahmed of Ramban and Nasir Ahmed son of Ghulab Din of Ramban were arrested on the spot.
In this connection, cases under relevant section of law have been registered at PS Udhampur and further investigation is going on.
