Srinagar, May 20: A COVID-19 positive woman from Anantnag died last night in Srinagar taking the Corona death toll in Jammu and Kashmir to 18 while 37 persons including three pregnant women today tested positive for Coronavirus in Kashmir.
Among these cases, 17 were from Kupwara, 8 from Baramulla, five each from Anantnag, Kulgam and one each from Budgam, Bandipora and Pulwama. One of them already positive case was re-tested.
With these fresh cases, the Jammu and Kashmir tally of Corona positives has gone to 1390 with 694 active while 678 have recovered and 18 others have died. Kashmir has 560 active cases.

The Medical Superintendent SKIMS Soura, Dr Farooq Jan, told Excelsior that the woman was admitted for last few days in the isolation ward of the hospital and had comorbidity.
“She was in isolation after testing positive. She was suffering from acute pancreatitis, having high mortality,” he said.
Her body was taken to Bijbehara but no proper protocol was followed as sources said that no Nodal Officer was present at the time of her burial. Large number of people attended her last rites and not a single person was wearing protective gear. However, people were wearing masks.
Dr Farooq Jan said that 1992 samples were processed at the viral diagnostic lab of the hospital and among them 44 tested positive and include, 14 received from Chief Medical Officer Srinagar, 8 from Baramulla, 4 from Kupwara and one from Pulwama among others.
The 14 cases received from CMO Srinagar include 11 men aged 40, 52, 22, 40, 42, 46, 48, 40, 30, 28 and 18 years from Kupwara district with travel history from Allahabad Uttar Pradesh , a 22-year old man from Kralpora Kupwara and a 25 year old woman from the same village with travel history of Ambala, Haryana and Dehradun in Uttarakhand. A 27-year man from Srinagar also tested positive.
Eight samples received from GMC Baramulla tested positive at SKIMS. They include two men aged 42 and 28 from Watergam, five women from Vakoora aged 28, 32, 54, 27 and 45 years and a 20 year old man from Dangerpora.
The cases received from CHC Kupwara that tested positive include 12-year-old boy and 65-year-old man from Kralpora and a 65-year-old man from Hayama.
One sample from District Hospital Pulwama of a 25-year-old man from Litter Pulwama also tested positive at SKIMS today.
The Nodal Officer for COVID-19 at the Government Medical College, Srinagar, Dr. Salim Khan, told Excelsior that 706 samples were processed at CD Hospital Srinagar’s Microbiology Lab and 17 of them tested positive.
Those from Anantnag are 45-year old man from Hawoora, 39 year old man from Dailgam and four women from Gohan, Gohan Vailoo, Gudwail and Sunderbani village of Kokernag area aged 32, 32, 33 and 32 years respectively.
From Kulgam, there were two cases including a 28-year-old pregnant woman from Khudwani and 34-year-old man from DH Pora who is admitted in Surgical ward of GMC Anantnag.
A 35 year old pregnant woman from Chatawan in Shopian was referred from District Hospital Kulgam as an emergency case to Lalla Ded hospital Srinagar last evening. She delivered a baby and later tested positive today.
A 55-year-old woman from Charar-e-Sharief area of Budgam also tested positive at SKIMS Path lab Bemina. Principal SKIMS Medical College, Dr Riyaz Untoo told Excelsior that 256 tests were processed today and one tested positive. “The woman delivered baby at the hospital and both the mother and baby are fine”, he said.
And 27 COVID-19 patients recovered and were discharged from various hospitals of Kashmir.
So far 122964 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance. They included 33113 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by Government, 86 in Hospital Quarantine, 694 in hospital isolation and 19892 under home surveillance. Besides, 69161 persons have completed their surveillance period.
With these fresh cases, Anantnag now has 252 COVID-19 cases, highest in all districts, followed by Kulgam with 171, Srinagar has 169, Bandipora 138, Baramulla 129, Kupwara 118, Shopian 109, Budgam 59, Ganderbal 25 and Pulwama 19.
