RAJOURI/ POONCH, July 22: The Police foiled several bovines smuggling attempts in Rajouri and Poonch area and rescued 37 cattle being smuggled to Kashmir via Mughal Road during last night.
Giving details official sources said that a team headed by SHO Budhal, Som Raj under the supervision of Deputy SP DAR, Zaheer Abbas arrested a bovine smuggler Jaan Shah, son of Bagu Shah, resident of Targain after he was found smuggling 11 cattle last night. All the animals were rescued from the clutches of the smuggler and a case in FIR No. 58/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Budhal Police Station.
Another smuggling bid was foiled by police team from Chatyar /Chingus Police Post headed by SI Sukhvir Singh under the supervision of SHO Rajouri, Sameer Jillani after a Tata Mobile No. JK11A/ 9450 was signalled to stop, but driver stopped the vehicle at some distance and fled the spot. Five bovines were found loaded in the vehicle which were rescued and vehicle seized, A manhunt has been launched to nab the smuggler, police said.
The Police team from Teryath Police Post headed by SI Ajaz Mirza under the supervision of SHO Dharamsal Rajinder Sharma arrested a smuggler Mohammad Javed, son of Mohammad Din, resident of Treru and rescued 12 bovines.
Three bovines were rescued by team from Rajouri Police Station at Panja Chowk from smuggler Mohammad Razaq, son of Hassan Mohammad, resident of Lah, Thanamandi. The accused was also arrested.
Similarly, four bovines were rescued by Thanamandi police team headed by SHO Fareed Ahmed from a vehicle No. JK11D/ 5141 which was seized and smuggler Sheraz Ahmed son of Mohammad Hussain resident of Nadian arrested.
Poonch police team led by SHO, SD Singh Jamwal intercepted a Tata Mobile vehicle No. JK03E/ 4887 at Sher-e-Kashmir bridge near Poonch city last night and rescued two cattle loaded in it. The driver was detained and a case FIR No. 122/ 2020 was registered in this connection.
