Fake news on social media against PSC

JAMMU, July 22: J&K Public Service Commission today rebutted social media post, accusing the Commission of inviting a non J&K resident candidate for interview for a Gazetted post, as false and baseless.
In a statement, the PSC clarified that a tweet has been circulated on Twitter regarding candidature of one Saiema Ali. It has been claimed in the tweet that the candidate is a Rohingiya and has been invited by J&K PSC to appear in interview for J&K Government Gazetted post.
The facts as alleged in the tweet are false, baseless and appear to have been circulated with malafide intention.
The PSC stated that the candidate had in the year 2017 applied for the post of Assistant Professor (Geography) in the Higher Education Department under Actual Line of Control (ALC) category.
It stated that “as per documents provided by her ( Saiema Ali) she has passed matriculation examination from Islamia Model High School, Iqbal Memorial, Sopore in the Annual Session year 2002 and has subsequently completed her post graduation in Geography from University of Kashmir in the year 2011 and M.Phil from the same University in the year 2015-16.
Based on these documents provided by Saiema Ali, she was shortlisted for the interview. The interviews were held by the outgoing Commission on 5th and 6th November 2019. However, before the interview, original documents of the candidates were scrutinised. During scrutiny, it was found that the candidate was belonging to Social Caste (SLC) category and she did not possess ALC category certificate. The candidate was as such not allowed to appear in the interview.
Saiema Ali has been issued Permanent Resident certificate by SDM, Sopore on 16.08.2014. It is stated that even though the original documents are scrutinised at the time of interview, the appointing authority has to get these documents verified from the issuing authority at the time of issuing appointment letter. In this case the candidate was not allowed to appear in the interview for reasons of having applied in the wrong category.
It appears on the basis of the documents that the candidate is a permanent resident of Jammu & Kashmir and the rumours being circulated by the vested interests are false and baseless.
