UDHAMPUR, Apr 20: Thirty-six persons were injured today when a passenger bus plunged into a gorge in Panchari area.
“The bus bearing registration number JK14F-0891 was on its way to Khourgali to Udhampur when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it rolled down into a deep gorge near Lalli,” a police official said.
He said a police team led by ASI Prshotam Lal, Incharge, police post Damnot, rushed to the spot and took the injured persons to nearby Public Health Centre Mongri for treatment. Later, 30 injured persons were referred to District Hospital, Udhampur for specialized treatment.
The injured persons were identified as Rinku Devi (14) daughter of Ganesh Singh of Lalli, Sobu Ram (65) of Nali Naka, Sakdma Devi (52) wife of Uttam Singh of Basnote, Neelam Devi (20) wife of Vishal Singh of Basnote, Naseem (14) daughter of Mohd Din of Dubi Gali, Bubli Devi (35) wife of Chanchal Singh of Panjar, Chamel Singh (35) son of Karan Singh of Domnote, Yusaf Din (45) son of Mohd Saleem of Muttal, Faroz Din (70) resident of Galyote, Taro (60) wife of Farooz Din of Galyote, Raj Kumar (40) son of Zhitu of Panjar, Vishal (26) son of Uttam Singh of Bariote, Subash Chander (50) son of Flair Singh of Lalli, Krisham (50) wife of Munshi of Sari, Puja Devi (18) daughter of Chunni Lal of Lalli, Sher Singh (15) son of Subash Chander of Lalli, Shano Devi (35) wife of Nek Ram of Kalankote (Sari), Priya Devi (26) wife of Vijay Kumar of Thathakote, Reshma (46) wife of Flail of Parrand, Balu (25) wife of Mansa of Parrand, Sunita (55) wife of Pramu of Lalli, Geeta Devi (40) wife of Babu Ram of Udhampur, Shaloo Devi (14) daughter of Muni Ram of Lalli, Rekha Devi (14) daughter of Baldeev Singh of Lalli, Lella Devi (55) wife of Haushir Singh of Adhonate, Bimla Devi (30) wife of Radha Sham of Chopra Chap (Udhampur), Sakula Devi (32) wife of Aasnam Singh of Sari, Aasnam Singh (38) son of Prem Singh of Sari, Raj Kumar (40) son of Gusshu of Kalsote, Rekha Devi (15) daughter of Karnail Singh of Lalli and Hans Raj (46) son of Sobha Ram of Parrand.
Panchari police has registered a case in this connection and started investigation.
Meanwhile, another mishap occurred at Byepass Udhampur. Three persons and one child were critically injured in the mishap and shifted to District Hospital Udhampur. The injured persons were identified as Neshu (40) wife of Sohil, Geeta Devi (55) wife of Jog Raj, Joti Bala wife of Anu Khajuria, all residents of Udhampur. They were later referred to GMC Jammu.
