SRINAGAR:
Thirty-five residents of Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) arrived here today while only four Kashmiris crossed over to other side of the Line of Control (LoC) to meet their relatives, separated in 1947 due to partition.
As many as 58 returnees also cross side at the Kaman post, the last Indian military post on this side of the border in Uri sector, official sources told UNI. They said 35 PoK residents, including 15 women and six children, arrived at Kaman post after crossing the Aman Setu, peace bridge on foot. Three Kashmiris, who had gone to PoK in previous Karvan-e-Aman bus also returned to their homes after completing stay across the border with their relatives.
They said four Kashmiris, including two women crossed over to other side of the LoC alongwith 55 POK residents who returned to their homes after completing stay in Kashmir. The POK returnees included 27 women and four children.
The cross LoC bus has helped thousands of families, dived in 1947 to meet each other after Indian and Pakistan agreed to allow permanent residents on both sides of the LoC to travel on ‘Travel Permits’ instead of International passport from April 7, 2005. (AGENCIES)
