102 cases in J&K, 5 in Ladakh

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/LEH, Oct 5: Thirty five students today tested for COVID-19 in the Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Mandi in Poonch district prompting the authorities to shut the institution for five days.
A total of 102 positive cases were today reported in Jammu and Kashmir and five in Ladakh.
Health officials said 35 students of the Government GHSS Mandi in Poonch district have tested positive for COVID-19. Yesterday, seven students of Government Higher Secondary School Lassana in Surankote tehsil of Poonch district had reported positive for the virus.
Chief Education Officer (CEO) Poonch Abdul Majid has ordered closure of GHSS Mandi for five days for sanitization, contact tracing and their testing. Students have been quarantined.
Out of other positive cases in the Jammu region, eight were reported in Jammu district, six in Rajouri, three Udhampur, two Kishtwar and one in Doda while rest of the districts didn’t report any fresh cases.
Forty six persons have recovered from the virus leaving 247 active positive cases.
In the Union Territory of Ladakh, five persons tested positive for pathogen, all in Leh district.
The UT now has 50 active positive cases—45 in Leh and five in Kargil.
Meanwhile, Kashmir today reported 73 COVID-19 positive cases.
Those who tested positive include 41 from Srinagar, 9 from Baramulla, 7 from Budgam, 5 from Pulwama, 4 from Kupwara, 1 from Anantnag, 2 from Bandipora and 4 from Ganderbal.
The number of cases in Kashmir division has reached 206,051 including 202,974 recoveries and 2,250 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 1,074 including 827 from Kashmir division.
With 185 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 324,493 which is 98.33 percent of the total cases.
